What is Tesla Cybercab, and how does it work?
Cybercab is Tesla’s purpose-built, two-seat autonomous electric vehicle for Robotaxi service. Tesla describes the service configuration as SAE Level 4 and typically built without a steering wheel or pedals.
Tesla’s July 2026 first-responder plan says its current Robotaxi vehicles are owned and operated by Tesla. It has not published an independent-fleet order process, retail price or Ohio availability date for Cybercab.
THE RIDE
How Tesla’s current Robotaxi experience works

That describes Tesla’s present service. A future program for independent Cybercab owners could use different commercial terms or operating tools.
AUTONOMY
Level 4 means the system drives within defined conditions.
Tesla’s first-responder plan identifies the service Cybercab as an SAE Level 4 vehicle. Within its defined operating conditions, it is designed to perform the full driving task without human-driver input. NHTSA describes Level 4 as the system driving while occupants ride, but only within limited service areas or conditions.
Tesla documents camera detection of emergency lights and sound detection of sirens for emergency-vehicle interaction, plus onboard ways for occupants or first responders to connect with support.
OHIO WEATHER
General weather claims are not an Ohio operating approval.
Tesla says Cybercab is designed for day and night operation and for light or moderate rain, fog and snow. Its documentation also notes limits in conditions such as flooding, heavy rain, snowy or icy roads and very high winds.
Tesla has not announced a Cybercab operating domain tailored to Columbus winters. A general capability statement should not be treated as proof that a specific Ohio route or condition is approved.

CYBERCAB VS. FSD
Consumer driver assistance is not the same product.
Tesla’s FSD (Supervised) requires an attentive human driver and does not make a consumer vehicle autonomous. Tesla describes Cybercab’s Robotaxi service configuration differently: Level 4 operation without human-driver input inside its defined operating conditions.
